Some V-Strom riders have reported that their plastic dash surround and/or clear instrument cluster cover has warped, cracked, discolored, or actually melted due to the "lens effect" caused when sunlight reflects off the inside of the windscreen and focuses on the dash area. Even if you don't plan on using a radar detector or other accessories, this shelf will shield your dash and instrument cluster from the damaging effects of the sun and help prevent melting or warping of those expensive plastic parts.

Note: Not compatible with the Stombone GPS mount.  We recommend using the Strombone for mounting your GPS.
