*Some V-Strom riders have reported that their plastic dash surround and/or clear instrument cluster cover has warped, cracked, discolored and even actually melted due to sunlight reflecting off the inside of the windscreen. Even if you don't plan on using a radar detector or other accessories, this shelf will shield your dash and instrument cluster from the damaging effects of the sun and help prevent melting or warping of those expensive plastic parts.
